"Fitness, Fun & Games" - is a childcare program, located inside Bethesda United Methodist Church,
for preschool children, ages 2-5. The hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. They also provide before school care for Hamilton Elementary/Middle School, ages 4 to 12, between 6:30 and 8 a.m. on school days. Field trips for school age children are provided, along with full days of care, during school holidays, and for a few weeks in August.
All year, school readiness skills are integrated throughout the daily early childhood schedule. Activities include stories, arts and crafts, music, games, dramatic play, phonics, puzzles, math, outdoor play, fitness games, and field trips. Children develop their listening skills, language, coordination, self-esteem, social skills and manners. Staff meets or exceeds MSDE requirements, including background checks. With the support of Bethesda United Methodist Church, children have access to a nurturing and stimulating learning environment.
The mission of Fitness Fun & Games is to provide quality programs for children, ages 2 to 18, which support healthy growth of the individual including cognitive, physical, social and emotional development, during out-of-school hours.
Meg McFadden, the executive director, established this non-profit, licensed, childcare organization in 1991. It has grown to nine locations serving Baltimore City families. Eight of these locations are youth development programs, before and after school. – one in a former recreation center, and the other seven in Baltimore City Public Schools.
